Chit Chat About A Little Bit of Everything

Mousse Cake

Each time I do an interview I’ve asked the interviewee to pay it forward by providing me with one of their favorite food bloggers. Alisha from The Ardent Epicure recommended I check out A Little Bit of Everything and hop on over to the blog I did! Perusing Roxana’s blog had me personally “walking” away with a feeling of serenity – love the green design and realizing this gal loves to teach – her step-by-step photos and write-ups are amazing. So together, we’ll get to know a little bit more about A Little Bit of Everything…enjoy the read.

As my blog has evolved I wanted the major focus to be interviewing food bloggers, so when people come here they know what to expect. How would you describe your site to new readers?

I started my blog to keep track of my progress in the kitchen. Back then, as I already said in one of my posts (Life as a blogger), I had few ideas what a blog is and no computer skills. Now I enjoy writing about my adventures (good or bad) in the kitchen. Almost all of the recipes found on my blog are shown in step by step photos making it easier if someone else decides to give it a try. I love surprising my family with new and simple dishes and have a passion for baking.

Many recipes have started from a cookbook and I switch it up to fit my own personal style. What is the tastiest recipe you have ever adapted from a cookbook? How did you make it different?

When I started cooking I followed the recipes by the book. Later, when I got more comfortable in the kitchen and learned more about each ingredient I start combining them according to my taste.
I can’t say which of the recipes I adapted I like the most, each one was good in its own way. I usually write down ideas from different cookbooks, blogs, cooking shows and later try and come up with my own version.

What online community events or groups do you participate in and support? Why are they important to you?

After joining FoodBuzz and CookEatShare I met lots of foodies. I enjoy reading their blogs, trying recipes they posted and over time have gotten to know a fair number of them and consider them online friends. Lately I’m using Facebook as a tool to stay in touch with friends and share some of their posts that I think my readers would enjoy.

I”ll admit it, I have a sweet tooth and if that sweet little something has lots of butter, it tastes even better. What are your thoughts? (Do you have a link to a decadent treat to share)

There were times when I thought I had the biggest sweet tooth. I could have eaten a small cake in one sitting. When it comes to butter, in my opinion the saying : more butter makes it tastier is not that true since my favorite dessert is chocolate cheesecake and anything with chocolate and most of them don’t call for pounds of butter. The latest sweet treat I wrote about is the mousse cake I made for my husband’s birthday. Wish I had still some left to invite you over :)

I love your step-by-steps with all those delicious photos in your posts. Tell us how you go about prepping your food and photo shoot area.

This is one of the most asked questions. I don’t have a photo studio or light box or any type of photo equipment. I shoot using a Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP which I got a couple of months ago. Since I take step by step photos I taught myself to shoot without a tripod. I’m thankful to my 8 big windows in my dining area making it easy to shoot using natural light.

Roxana GreenGirlI’m Roxana, stay at home mom, with a passion for cooking and mostly for baking. I was born in Romania and try to meet in the middle the Romanian and American cuisines although my favorite cuisine is the Mediterranean. Except yeast, my favorite ingredients to cook with are (Italian or French) cheese, chocolate and chilli pepper. I’m a pescatarian, love salmon and yellowfin tuna and don’t quite care for shellfish. My biggest kitchen fears are deep frying and using a mandoline. :)

Are you going to be the next food blogger on the Interview Schedule?
