Erin’s Whipping Up Dinners, Dishes and Desserts!

Nutella Cupcakes

Happy Thursday Foodies! Today we get to meet Erin from Dinners, Dishes and Desserts, a newer food blogger with lots of heart and true potential. Liz, thanks for giving me the heads up, our pay-it-forwardness is turning into the best foodie love-in ever!

As a newer food blogger I think it is quite impressive that you already have over 115 posts under your apron strings. :) Talk to us about your blogging mission and why you blog about food.

I started blogging on a whim, so I didn’t really have a mission. I guess after doing this for a few months my mission would be to show people how easy it is to cook and try new things. I have friends who are scared of the kitchen, and after they read my blog they get into the kitchen and are successful. That is a great thing to be able to share with people. I get bored with the same food all the time, so I love to try new recipes, and share food with friends and family.

Ooh! We all love getting awards. How have each of the awards you have achieved so far made you feel?

Who doesn’t love getting recognized, really? When I received my first award I was floored. People I didn’t know were actually reading my blog and liked it. That meant so much to me. It is an amazing feeling to know that you are reaching people all over the world.

What are some of the things you let your little guy do with you in the kitchen?

I personally love to bake with my son. He loves mixing and measuring, and of course licking the spoon! I think his favorite thing to make would be Chicken Nuggets. He gets a little pair of tongs, and gets to dip in all the different bowls, and then we bake them. Anything to get kids involved is important.

How do you think being a Capricorn shapes your food and cooking style?

I don’t follow astrology much but I did read that being a Capricorn means you have a great sense of purpose and faith in your ability. I have to say this is true about me. There isn’t anything I think that is impossible in the kitchen. If I get something in my head, I will do it! And I will make sure that I get it right, even if I have to try again.

If you were heading out for a rigorous hike what are some foods you would bring along?

We LOVE to hike! We go every year to the mountains on vacation to hike. I like to pack nuts for protein, bring lots of water, and then I need a few treats to keep me going! Nutella No Bake Bars, Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies and Homemade Goldfish Crackers. All have redeeming values (allbeit small) to keep you going, as well as tasting great!
