Meeting Divya From Flavour Fiesta

As I wander around the blogsphere I’m so fortunate to be greeted by food loveliness upon my clicks. Ooh I sure love what I do
Meeting Divya, taking a venture through her blog…gave me cause for rejoicing, rejoicing in the pleasures of food through brilliant writing and mouthwatering photos. Let’s get to know a little more about Divya, what she is doing over at Flavour Fiesta….then click and rejoice in the pleasures of food too!
Love the look of your site – so pretty and clean and ooh the photos, yum! Tell us about your blog and what you like your reader’s to experience when they click on your link.
Thanks Correen! I’m glad you love the look of the site. I intended it to reflect my style of cooking which is simple and fresh (but with a twist!).
I started the blog as a way to share my passion for global cuisine with the foodie community. My approach to cooking is simple – use healthy ingredients and don’t be afraid to experiment. I particularly enjoy putting a spin on familiar dishes with the ethnic ingredients. I’d like my readers to experience the joy of cooking and become inspired to begin their own culinary adventures.
I ‘met’ you while visiting another blog – noticed your sweet comment and clicked over to your blog. Talk to us about how you approach networking and discovering other food blogs.
Being part of the blogosphere is all about connecting and interacting with like-minded people. As a food blogger, I’m here to share my experience and gain inspiration from other foodies. I enjoy connecting through sites such as foodbuzz.com and stumbleupon.com. These are a good way of finding blogs written by people with similar interests. I have also discovered a few fantastic food blogs through comments on blogs I currently follow – the same way you found me!
What are some surprises you have encountered in the kitchen?
My approach to cooking is all about experimentation, so I have had quite a few surprises in the kitchen! Thankfully, most of the results have been edible. ![]()
Last summer, I purchased dried chipotle chillies for the first time. I had absolutely no clue how to use them, so I just dropped them in whole into a stew hoping for the best. The stew turned out amazing with a rich, smoky flavour! Now I use whole dried chipotle peppers as well as the powder all the time – I’m glad I discovered something new! This week I’m going to be adventurous and try making dark chocolate chipotle cookies.
Pick just one recipe from your blog that is your all-time favorite and tell us all about it, why you think everyone should try it.
I have quite a few favorites, but my all-time favorite is the salmon curry. It’s a curry recipe that combines both Thai and Indian flavours for a unique dish that truly represents my style of cooking. I enjoy Thai food, but find it difficult to find authentic ingredients. For this recipe, I’ve used ingredients that you should be able to easily find at most supermarkets. I encourage people to try this recipe as a first step towards experimenting with global/ethnic ingredients.
What is something that not many people know about you?
Most people I meet assume I’ve lived in Canada for most of my life (I guess it’s the accent!). I’ve actually had the opportunity to live in a number of places such as the United Kingdom, India and Saudi Arabia. I guess I’m qualified to be a global citizen now! That experience has shaped my approach to food and it’s reflected in my choice of ingredients for my blog.
I’ve been living in Toronto for quite some time now and the city has really given me the chance experience a plethora of cuisines. Just stepping out into the city gives me inspiration.
Flavour Fiesta is a blog about fresh global food. I’m a food enthusiast – I love everything about food and can talk/think/dream about it endlessly. My approach to cooking is simple – use fresh, healthy ingredients and don’t be afraid to experiment. You never know what you’ll come up with! I have a penchant for putting a spin on familiar dishes with the global ingredients – it’s always a culinary adventure in my kitchen.
