Recipe for a Perfect Knee Replacement
Ahh the power of automation! As this post hits the web this morning I should be nestled snugly, warm under a blanket in the surgery recovery room. Today is the day I get my new knee. I’m not sure I’ll even know how to act because the damn thing has been bum for so long. This I do know…I am bound and determined to be done with this pain!
Anyone that has knee pain knows exactly what I am talking about. It is a pain hard to describe, lest you sound like a whiner! Seems for my story knee problems are a huge issue in our family…in fact less than 6 months ago I stayed with my mom post her knee replacement surgery. As a young girl I distinctly recall my grandma grumbling under her breath or exclaiming loudly (when it really, really hurt!) about her damn knee!
Just to make you (and me) smile…here is my recipe for a perfect knee replacement…
Ingredients
1 patient; that would be moi’
1 orthopedic surgeon; intelligently handsome
1 anesthesiologist; briefcase full of “lala” meds
1 IV; placed with expertise, dripping the “lala” meds
1 surgical team; brilliant and bright-eyed
1 tray instruments; sterilized, in good working order
1 recovery room nurse; nice, helpful
1 blanket; crisply warmed
1 physical therapist; stern, yet kind
1 orthopedic floor team; ready to kick my butt outta bed
1 son; working in the ortho department
1 husband; sitting by my bedside
1 bunch of friends and family; sending good thoughts
This recipe is most successful when all parts are combined and gently stirred!
Here is a link to learn more about knee replacement surgery using the Visionaire technology that my surgeon will be performing. Disclaimer: The video is really graphic, so if you have a queasy stomach over medical type things, don’t watch!
